First and second cycle programmes
Department of European Studies in Gdansk
European Studies is a modern, interdisciplinary programme. First cycle students gain knowledge about European integration, the European Union and its institutions, common market mechanisms. Students also develop their knowledge in sociology, economics, psychology, international relations and politics, enriched with the knowledge of European traditions, history and culture, socio-political aspects of integration (with a special focus on Poland’s integration and membership in the European Union), the EU structure and legal and economic aspects of the European Union.
During the programme, students gain and develop skills for the understanding and analysis of European social, political, legal and economic issues. Along with general interdisciplinary knowledge in social science, students gain thorough theoretical and practical knowledge in specific fields. The programme meets the needs of people who wish to study a field closest to the present situation and changes within the Polish state.
Second cycle programmes offers all candidates an opportunity to develop their knowledge in European matters of the EU integration and functioning. Graduates have comprehensive knowledge in social, cultural, legal and economic matters in Europe.
Student deepen their knowledge about the European Union’s states and the European integration by studying civilization, European states cultural identity, basis of foreign politics and democracy in Europe. European Studies graduates are able to solve occupational problems thanks to the knowledge and skills developed during the programme. Graduates are able to address unusual situations when their opinions for human rights, ethics, legal and economic rules are challenged. Graduates possess adequate knowledge to apply for European Union grants and manage European projects.
